Dupioni or Dupion silk, is a lustrous 100% silk material that is frequently woven with two different colors of threads (one vertical, one horizontal). This technique is what gives the fabric a wonderful shimmering property that changes with the light.
Dupioni is made from irregular, rough silk which provides a “slubby” or “nubby” texture. Although crisp to the touch Dupioni doesn't wrinkle badly or hold a crease well. It is reversible, not stretchy, and very easy to sew.
Our Dupioni is not as course as many of the cheaper varieties available. While still textured, our Dupioni provides a nice balance of texture and refinement.
